DBA Activities

Friends........

DBC Activities
Install Oracle Release in specified user account;
Application of maintenance and security patches to Oracle;
Create Oracle Instances for the application;
Create database files i.e. table spaces and all Oracle application user ids;
Configure cold and hot backups using RMAN and TSM based on project requirements;
Monitor and support the space growth of the database
Retain DBA privilege at all times;
Perform start-up / shutdown of instances and listeners on scheduled or on adhoc basis;
Monitor the health of the database and its various components via Tivoli and other script
Perform routine audits on security.

DBA Activities
Installation of application schemas which include all the application database objects (eg. Store procedures; tables and index)
Import/Export of application database request;
Planning, sizing of application data growth and on-going needs;
Support hourly DB refreshing processes
Performance monitoring and reporting issues to various support teams;
Provide DBA support and consultation to CGI team.
Troubleshoot production database related incidents
Perform database reorganization as required to improve database performance
Co-ordinate application of Oracle alerts with IBM DBC;
Maintain application specific cleanups scripts and scheduling them for routine runs.
Support regular database maintenance activities
Participate in servicing database audit request
Theoretical understanding of RAC and Dataguard
Good Understanding of DB architecture, installation procedures, alert monitoring, regular troubleshooting, some PL/SQL and basics of tuning.
